This is my Harman Kardon Citation 17 preamp. The top of the line Citation series from Harman Kardon gear, was considered to be among the finest equipment you could hope for in the 60’s and 70’s. Often mentioned in the same breath as McIntosh, Phase Linear, Mark Levinson, Marantz and Audio Research. Extremely well made gear, and entirely hand built. Harman Kardon had a spec sheet for each individual component. I have heard old timers, mention that each piece was not only bench tested, is went through a one hour listening test was well. Harman Kardon was serious about audio and it was evident from the very first listen.
I can find no fault with this preamp. It does everything extremely well, and better that any stand alone preamp I’ve ever owned. If you have an opportunity to purchase one, go for it. You will not be disappointed. They are hard to find, namely because they were build in scarce numbers, were extremely expensive when new, and those own one, keep it.
